گاز مايع LPG) Liquefied Petroleum GAS )
گاز مايع که بصورت مخفف LPG ناميده مي شود معمولاً عمدتاً از دو ترکيب هيدروکربني پروپان و بوتان با فرمول شيميايي C4H10, C3H8 تشکيل شده است. بوتان خود شامل دو ترکيب ايزوبوتان ونرمال بوتان است. LPG که معمولاً در برخي نقاط دنيا به نام ترکيب عمده آن، پروپان، نيز شناخته مي شود بعنوان محصول فرعي فرآيندهاي تصفيه و توليد گاز طبيعي و پالايش نفت خام توليد مي شود. LPG در آمريکا عمدتاً از 90% پروپان، 5/2% بوتان و هيدروکربنهاي سنگين و مقدار کمي نيز اتان و پروپلين تشکيل شده است.
